In 2003, the IHRP submitted an amicus brief to the Special Court for Sierra Leone (Appeal Chamber) arguing that the recruitment of child soldiers violates customary international law. The Special Court adopted the clinic’s position and cited to its contributions in its decision on the use of child soldiers.
