Friday, February 28, 2025
Location:
Jackman Law Building (78 Queen's Park, Toronto), Room J140

Come attend the second session of the 6th International Rights of Nature Tribunal, taking place at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law (Jackman Law Building) on February 28th, from 9am - 5pm.

This second session of the Tribunal will focus on the unsustainable practices of Canadian mining companies worldwide. Witnesses from diverse regions will present cases illustrating the environmental and human rights impacts of mining operations. An expert panel, comprising international and Indigenous leaders, will evaluate their testimonies using the Rights of Nature framework to determine whether violations have occurred. The session will conclude with an oral verdict, providing actionable recommendations to address these injustices, while championing the Rights of Nature as a vital response to the environmental and climate crises. See this event page to learn more about the Tribunal.

This free public event is organized in collaboration with the International Rights of Nature Tribunal and Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature (GARN), and the Environmental Law Club (ELC) at U of T Law.

This will be a hybrid event (in-person and online). Light refreshments will be served for those attending in-person.
