IHRP Director interviewed about treatment of mentally ill prisoners on CTV National News

November 2, 2012 - Last night, CTV National News interviewed the Director of the IHRP, Renu Mandhane, about findings from the IHRP report, Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading? Canada's Treatment of Federally-Sentenced Women with Mental Health issues.  Mandhane noted that Ashley Smith's shocking treatment while in prison, which was made public this week in video footage showing her bound with duct-tape and forcibly medicated, was characteristic of Correction Canada's treatment of female prisoners with serious mental health issues.  The video of the newscast can be viewed here.
