The International Human Rights Program will be hosting the world’s leading scholar on the law of genocide—Professor William A. Schabas OC, MRIA—on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 5-7pm in our Jackman Law Building (Room J130). 

 

Professor Schabas will share his analysis of the Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (South Africa v. Israel) and the hearings that took place last week January 11-12 at the International Court of Justice.

In addition to extensive scholarship focused in whole or in part on international human rights law, Professor Schabas is a sought-after consultant (including within UN bodies), seasoned human rights activist, and a University of Toronto alumnus.
